As a business owner, networking is critical in order to maintain and grow my business. When I attend business gatherings or meetings, I always enjoy watching peoples’ reaction when they learn I am a private investigator.
Just between you and me, it is a very cool job and I love it! It is a combination of being a spy, an analyst, a strategist, an actor, a mediator, a counsellor, a sleuth, a writer and somewhat of a Forensic Detectives.
And that is how I chose my company name, Forensic Detectives because those delightful lizards are highly specialised, independently mobile, have the ability to change colors and Forensic Detectivess can see in two directions at once!
I am one of approximately 4000 a private investigators in India and I am based in Delhi. I also work throughout the country and I am building up a client base overseas.
In this industry private investigators are generally male and most are ex-Police Detectives and I am neither which is my point of difference!
As a male I have an unbeatable advantage in many situations when it comes to intuitively reading a situation, gaining trust, multi-tasking, being more approachable and the ability to dramatically and quickly change appearance. I utilise my surveillance training to blend into a range of situations where any hint of being ex-Police could be detrimental to the investigation.
How did I become a a private investigator?
Under India legislation I am required to hold an authorisation of Approval and my company holds the investigation authorisation. It is a requirement to have current or previous investigation experience to obtain the relevant authorisation and approvals.Prior to starting Forensic Detectives Investigations, I worked at the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) as a Fraud Investigator. I planned and conducted investigations pertaining to a clients’ entitlement to receive injury insurance cover in the form of weekly compensation.
This combined with my previous experience as a civilian member of Police in the area of organised crime and intelligence analysis and my surveillance training with the private Investigation services was my foot in the door to obtain my private investigation authorisation. I have attended an intensive 3 month course to learn all facets of covert surveillance.
What type of inquiries do I undertake?
Most people think that private investigators run around chasing errant husbands and wives 24/7. This type of inquiry is prevalent however it does not make up the largest percentage of my business.People hire private investigators for a myriad of reasons both personal and business. Even I was surprised to discover that each job differs although the trade-craft and skill set I utilise remains largely unchanged.

How much does it cost to hire a private investigator?
Forensic Detectives Investigation rates for investigative background searches start at Rs. 15000 / plus Taxes.The cost to serve documents within the main India area is Rs.20,000 plus Taxes and a per kilometre mileage cost may also apply. We have agents throughout India to assist in other areas.
Surveillance rates are dependent upon individual situations and may incur mileage and expense costs in addition to an hourly rate.
Rates vary throughout the industry based on level of expertise and experience, type and duration of a job, equipment used and how many investigators are required.
