What does the detective do?

Contrary to the commonly accepted stereotype, the detective's work consists not only in solving marital problems, tracking unfaithful husbands or wives. This work is primarily collecting information from various fields about people, objects and events. The detective's tasks include, among others:

* collecting information on civil matters (eg property, divorce, inheritance),
* collecting information on payment capacity, credibility and property in business relations of companies,
* collecting information on illegal use of business signs and trade names, unfair competition and disclosure of trade secret messages,
* checking the credibility of information on damages reported to insurance companies,
* searching for missing or hiding persons, including escaping from the home of children and young people,
* searching for stolen or lost items,
* determining the circumstances of crimes in which the police are reluctant to engage,
* detecting the perpetrators of theft in the workplace.

Like a chameleon

While observing, the detective's attire should not pay attention to anything. The cut and color of the outer garment should be toned down, preferably in black, gray or brown colors, not bright or extravagant. The physiognomy of a representative of this profession should not be conspicuous either. Certainly someone who is 2 m tall or 0.5 m in biceps definitely attracts attention than the inconspicuous, average gray eminence. In this profession you have to be like a chameleon. You have to adapt to the surroundings and take on its colors. When you run a case that requires insight into the environment of homeless drug addicts, you have to take out old things from the basement and wear to go to work. When you need to follow a businessman, you have to do everything not to stand out from the customers of casinos, arcades and bingo. It is important to get to know your object well (expert - figurehead), therefore, when accepting the order, you must conduct a detailed interview with the client to get to know habits, behaviors, tastes, and even the type of opposite sex that may be in the interest of the figurehead.

Constant education

The detective's profession combines the skills of a number of different fields. It is the ability to perceive, associate, analyze and hypothesize (predict), diplomacy, reach a place where you can get the information you need. Therefore, the person choosing such a profession should be very versatile and focused on continuous training. The phenomenon of technical progress, which involves the use of a professional camera, video camera, voice recorder, computer or special devices (e.g. GPS vehicle locator, directional microphone, hidden miniature cameras), should be monitored at all times. Knowledge of the topography of the city in which the representative of this profession works will undoubtedly make work easier.

How to become a detective?

To be able to work in this profession you must obtain a detective license issued by the Provincial Police Commander. To this end, the state examination should be passed. The curriculum includes issues related to the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, the Act on the Internal Security Agency, Intelligence Agency, Police, Border Guard, personal data protection, protection of classified information as well as civil and criminal (material law) and procedural), forensic science, criminology (crime science), victimology (science of crime victim) and forensic psychology.
